Share Your Story

SSP would like to hear from you.  As you achieve accomplishments or reach new levels of responsibility through promotion or job change, we invite you to share your successes. Fellow alumni are interested in stories that illustrate an ability to navigate through a maze of corporate, entrepreneurial and/or challenges to realize new opportunities. Your story might inspire and encourage those who may be hesitant to address similar challenges in their work-life.  Link into “Share Your Story” ON THE SSP Alumni Network and use the automatically generated email addressed to the Alumni Network to capture your thoughts.  With your permission, we will share your narratives in future newsletters.

Through the “Share Your Story” feature, the Alumni Network introduces and connects SSP alumni who have used their transition experiences to achieve unusual or significant career goals.  Many SSP alumni have accepted employment in new and different environments, moving from profit to not-for-profit organizations; leaving the corporate arena to begin entrepreneurial ventures; or transitioning from public to privately companies.  Others have restarted a career following a lengthy sabbatical, or participated in retraining to hone a new set of competencies.  Your stories are valuable life lessons that can help others work up the courage and resolve to follow their own dreams, so please share them with us!

The First 90 Days…It's a very good book...

I'm at Chapter 3. I think preparing for the first 90 days takes as much preparation as being ready for interviews!  Denis P

I truly have come to realize the importance of keeping up with your network. As I have said all along, networking has been best for me, but working through "the process" has been insightful and beneficial as well. Again, thanks to SSP and especially the three of you for your guidance and support.  Best regards, Scott M

Jay,
..…Maybe we can catch up over lunch at a restaurant in the Western Suburbs (compliments of my firm - Business Growth Innovations Inc.) some time after the New Year when you are out at the Oak Brook Terrace office and I am not traveling on the East Coast (currently have two turnarounds going on right in NC and MD).  The recent articles quoting me in Forbes and the University of Illinois Alumni Magazine have brought in significantly more business.  Also, Governor Blagojevich's appointing me to the Board of Directors for the Illinois Housing Development Authority has kept me pretty busy (in addition to the Bank Board and other clients that I serve).
Jay, thanks again for the invitation.  I look forward to attending next year.  Please pass on my best wishes to all at SSP for a wonderful Christmas and New Year.  Talk to you soon.  Regards,

George
